Final Fantasy VI Coming To iOS And Android This Winter

Written by Spencer — 10 Oct 2013

Kotaku recently talked to Takashi Tokita and he revealed that a iOS and Android version of Final Fantasy VI is coming this Winter. This follows the announcement of Final Fantasy IV: The After Years getting a 3D remake for smartphones. VI will not be a straight port and will be similar to how Final Fantasy V was remade for phones earlier this year.

Tokita talked about the some of the changes coming in this remake:

"The battle systems have been altered for the other [mobile remakes] for Final Fantasy and VI will be the same. For instance grinding was an issue and people had to spend a lot of time leveling up. Now on the mobile devices the battle systems have been adjusted so you don't have to fight as much and can enjoy the game for what it is."

Square Enix has been supporting the Final Fantasy Legacy collection strong over the past few years on smart devices and Tokita even hinted at a potential remake for Final Fantasy VII on smartphones. Are you glad that Final Fantasy VI is being remade and how do you feel about the changes to the battle system? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
