Naoki Yoshida, the producer and director of Final Fantasy XIV has revealed it will take at least two more expansions to finish the game's main storyline.

Speaking to Kotaku at E3 2017, Yoshida revealed "There's this overarching story, and I've actually set a goal or endpoint for that arc," "That's one of the things I want to accomplish is to be able to finish that narrative."

When Kotaku asked how long it would be he said "I think we'd need at least another two more expansions".

In addition, Yoshida also spoke about remaking areas from A Realm Reborn and on what they can do with PlayStation 3 out of the picture.

He also gave an update on the eventual collaboration event with Final Fantasy XV.

"Plans for these are moving forward. The Final Fantasy 15 team has settled down on their end. We feel that it's going to be rather hefty in volume in terms of this crossover. Once we are able to get some visual references, some graphics available, and when we decide on timing, we'll make sure to make an official announcement."

Lastly, he again discussed bringing Final Fantasy XIV to Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. They have been having conversations with Phil Spencer at Microsoft and the upper management at Nintendo but the hurdle remains being able to have cross-platform play with PlayStation 4.

Recently, titles like Minecraft have had cross-platform-play added for Xbox One and Nintendo Switch but not PlayStation 4.
